Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien (Swallow)

244th Sentai, Toyko Defender, January, 1945

Model sTATS:

Kit Maker: Hasegawa

Scale: 1/32

Completed: 2014

Aircraft Serial Number: 3295

Pilot: Major Teruhiko Kobayashi

Kills: 5

This is my first 1/32 scale aircraft I have built since returning to the hobby. I really wanted to do Kobayashi's aircraft but was concerned I would not get the patchy camoflauge scheme correct. Thankfully I discovered Gator's 1/32 Scale Ki-61 camo masks and I quickly purchased one for the build. The kit is mostly out of the box with the exception of the exhausts (quickboost) , cannons amd MG's ((master) and the eduard cockpit photo etch set for this kit. The airframe was painted in Tamiya airframe silver from the rattle can line which I decanted first before spraying on the model and Mr. Color lacquer paint, Kawasaki green. The hinomaru's are masks as well.
