Re-Build in Progress

This particular Sherman V (M4A4) repersents one of the Sherman V's that fought with the 1st Canadian Armoured Brigade in italy. The Sherman V's in the Italian campaign were often the early type with M34 gun mount (narow rotor shield)  early 75mm gun with flared muzzle etc. I put this together from the  old Dragon kit which has an inaccurate hull length and consequent return roller which is situated too far back from the last bogie. Also, after further research I found that these tanks  in Italy typically did not did not have a stowage bin or tool box on them which was a later feature more seen in the Normandy campaign. In fact this tank would be well suited for that area of operations but since I was too far along in the build process I left her as is. I might remove the bins and repaint the tank to make it more representative of an Italian campaign Sherman V but we shall see. I also added some tree branches to the tank for camoflauge which the tankers often did in Italy.  A  Browning .30 Cal MG  and small ammo bin was added to the turrent which was sometimes seen on Canadian tanks in Italy. British/Common weatlth Shermans typically did not get  turrent mounted MG's. I really enjoyed doing this tank and I especially like the figures that I added to it.  For the Figures I used Ultracast and for the tank commander I used the Kit figure with Hornet head. The heads on the driver and radio operator/Bow MG gunner are hornet as well.
